GOP threatens to shut down govt over debt ceiling

...again.

Last week, House Speaker John Boehner said he wold not permit another increase in the country's legal borrowing limit without a larger amount of spending cuts and reforms approved in tandem.  Read more about it here.

McConnell (R-KY) and Boehner (R-OH) both voted to raise the debt ceiling 6 times between 1997 and 2008.  

105-H.R.2015 - Balanced Budget Act of 1997

107-S.2578 - Debt Limit Bill (2002)

108 - H.J.Res.51 - Debt limit increase solution (2003)

108-S.2986 - Amend Title 31 of US Code to increase the public debt limit (2004)

109-H.J.Res.47 - Debt limit increase resolution (2006)

110-H.R.1424 - Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (2008)


McConnell (R-KY) voted to raise the debt ceiling 2 additional times:
